Iranian Ground Report

Reporting From Iranian Ground Sources.

Editorial Standards

How material is sourced, attributed, translated, verified and corrected on this platform.

Attribution

Every item names the outlet, organization or individual that published it, and links to the original. We do not present another newsroom's reporting as our own, and summaries written here are labelled as summaries rather than original journalism.

Primary sourcing

Primary material — footage filmed at the scene, testimony given directly, documents released by the body that produced them — takes precedence over secondary description of the same event. Where only secondary reporting exists, the item says so.

Palestinian-source visibility

Palestinian journalists, media outlets, organizations and residents are given deliberate prominence rather than being placed beneath international secondary coverage. Prominence does not lower the verification threshold: the same source-type and corroboration labelling applies to every item regardless of origin.

Corroboration

An editor records what each additional source specifically confirms — a location, a date, a death toll, the authenticity of a video. Shared subject matter is not corroboration, and an item is not marked independently corroborated unless separate sources confirm the same specific facts.

Corrections

Material errors are corrected in public with a dated note describing what changed and why. Silent rewriting of substantive claims is prohibited.

Translation

Translated items preserve access to the original language, name the original language, and disclose when machine translation was used. Proper nouns are checked. Quotations are handled by a human or presented in the original with a note.

Graphic content

Graphic imagery is never used decoratively, never autoplays, and is covered until a reader chooses to view it. It is published only where it carries documentary value that a description cannot.

Civilian privacy and children

We do not geolocate civilians from imagery, attempt facial recognition, or publish exact coordinates, addresses or contact details for individuals. Children are not identified without the consent of a parent or guardian, and identifying detail is removed where publication could create risk.

Casualty reporting

Casualty figures are attributed to the body that issued them and dated. Conflicting figures are shown side by side with an explanation of why the counts differ, rather than merged into a single number.

Anonymous sources and social media

Anonymous submissions are labelled as requiring additional verification and are not published on their own authority. Social-media material is traced to the earliest available upload, checked against known earlier copies, and linked to the original account or post.

Use of AI and conflicts of interest

Automated assistance is limited to translation, summarization, tagging, duplicate detection and candidate corroboration, and is disclosed. Editors declare any relationship with an organization whose material they handle, and do not review items where such a relationship exists.
